About this mall
It has 201100m² of leasing space, which houses 220 retailers. It is viewed as the largest New England mall with regards to square footage. Its anchors include five department stores which are Lord & Taylor, Target, Sears, Macy’s and Nordstrom. Shoppers have a choice of 17 restaurants, along with a range of specialty food outlets.
The mall gained popularity when it was used as a film site for Paul Blart: Mall Cop during 2008.
The mall was first opened during 1961 in the form of an open-air plaza. At that time it included an 11000m² Filene’s, along with around 30 smaller shopfronts.
During 1968, a 27900m² Jordan Marsh opened its doors. The center was eventually enclosed during 1976 and additional anchors, such as Lord & Taylor and Sears joined during 1979 and 1980 respectively.
At this stage the mall boasted 100 stores. The second level was added during 1995 and 1996, making space for the food court and a Filene’s expansion.
