B&M Retail, also known as B&M Bargains and B&M Homestore was founded in 1978 and is currently one of the leading variety retailers in the UK. The first B&M retail outlet was opened in Blackpool, Lancashire in 1978 and has since grown to 380 high street and out-of-town stores across the United Kingdom. The company believes in selling high-quality products at incredible prices to more than 3 million customers every week.
The first B&M Retail store was started by Malcolm Billington in Blackpool, and the company continued to expand and grow. In 2004, the company was acquired by Simon and Bobby Arora from Phildrew investment, at this time there were 21 B&M Retail stores in the UK. B&M Retail quickly grew, and in 2012, the company opened its 300th store. In 2014, B&M Retail was listed on the London Stock Exchange as part of its next stage development plan which includes the company’s plan to open stores in Europe.
Between 2006 and 2012, B&M experienced significant growth when it acquired the Glyn Webb DIY chain stores. In 2011, the company also purchased several Kwik save, Au-Naturale and Woolworths stores. B&M also bought several Focus DIY stores which were converted to the B&M Hardware format. B&M offers customers an excellent alternative to the specialist and general retailers selling, furniture, household textiles, furniture, toys, outdoor living, camping goods, DIY, food and drink and several other products.
