The
Marks & Spencer corporation had its bosses announce earlier that
it had plans in July 2014 to close down their Middleton Grange
Shopping Centre store to focus all efforts on their latest food
outlet located in Anchor Retail Park.
Work
on the unit at the retail park which was previously owned by JJB
Sports, is going reportedly going well and is expected to start
serving customers in May.
There
is no actual opening date announced yet but what is confirmed is the
existing store will shut its doors one day before the new store
opens.
There
will be no job losses as a result of the relocation s all 50 staff
who are currently working at the Middleton Grange store have already
been offered positions in the new store.
The
Mail understands that despite the company mentioning last year that
there will be an in-store café in the new unit, this would no longer
be the case.
Having
had a shop in Hartlepool town centre since 1969, Marks & Spencer
bosses have promised that shoppers will be given an enhanced
experience in their new store despite leaving shopping centre bosses
with a slot to fill.
“The new store
will provide our customers with an improved shopping experience,
including free parking at the retail park.”, was shared by a M&S
spokesperson
“We expect the
store to open early May and we
will
inform the local
community
as soon as a date has been finalised.”
In the new West Oahu
shopping mall, there will be a ‘luxury’ multiplex to be built
there.
There will be a
multiplex that features everything from a giant screen, to having
recliner seats and cuisine that is inspired locally which are all set
to open in 2016 within the newly buld KA Makana Alii shopping mall.
The shopping mall
will also have a new branch of Consolidated Theatres opening there
and will feature 8 screens, one of which will be a TITAN XC screen
that is equipped to project multi-channel immersive sound which
mimics the setting at Ward Village.
Separating itself
from its other branches, the cinema in Ka Makana Alii will feature
things like oversized, full-electric recliner seats and aside from
the usual theatre treats like popcorn and soda, there will be a menu
offering locally inspired food prepared by Bruce Seidel and Chef
Santos Loo, and both of them are Food Network veterans.
Hawaii’s first
Hampton inn and suites along with other chain stores like Macy’s,
H&M, Forever 21, Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic will be the some
of the tenants in Ka Makana Alii which features more than 150 shops
and restaurants including an office space and two hotels.
The first phase will
open in 2016 and will feature at least 750,000 square feet of hotel
space, dining, entertainment and retail shops
