Stonebriar Centre Mall

About this mall

Located at the intersection of SH 289 and SH 121 in Frisco, Texas, Stonebriar Centre Mall is anchored  by six major department store, and a twenty-four-screen movie theater. Stonebriar Centre Mall has a total of 165 tenants in over 1,630,000 square feet of retail space. Until 2013, Stonebriar Centre Mall boasted an NHL size ice arena as well.
In the 1980s the Frisco government leaders decided there was no greater economic driver in North Texas than a shopping mall. In 1988, Jerry Rosenholtz of Homart, planned a million-square-foot mall in the town of about 6,000 people.
The neighbor city of Plano offered $10 million if Homart would move its mall across the road into their city limits. Frisco offered tax incentives to cinch the deal. Plano then convinced General Growth Properties to build a mall within their city limits. After much wrangling which included General Growth Properties buying Homart which had already had a signed agreement with Frisco, Frisco finally won the fight. 1,600,000-square-foot Stonebriar Centre Mall opened in 1993.
Stonebriar Centre Mall’s major stores include: AMC Theatre, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillard’s, Forever 21, JCPenney, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Sears.
