About this mall
Green Tree Mall is a shopping mall located in Clarksville, Indiana, a suburb of Louisville, Kentucky. The mall is located off of I-65 about four miles (6 km) north of downtown Louisville. It has a total area of 795,382 square feet (73,893 m2). It was named for a large boundary tree of considerable age that once stood at the location.
Green Tree Mall plays host to Club Mom, a children’s entertainment event, on the first Tuesday of every month. In addition to its club event, the mall has Kids Day, which is similar to a large Club Mom.
In 2007, the mall was set to host the first Kentucky Derby Festival event in Indiana with the U.S. Bank Derby Festival Great Balloonfest, but it was canceled due to poor weather.
Green Tree Mall staff even developed a green thumb in spring of 2007. They earned a grant through the Macerich Louise Marquez special event grants that provided them with funds to purchase plants for the renovation of Bob Hedge Park in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The park is specially designed for children that are handicapped.[8] Staff also participate in cooking at the Ronald McDonald House in Louisville as well as working with other organizations such as the Salvation Army and Goodwill Industries.
Dillard’s expansion
River Falls Mall, another shopping center, opened across the street in 1990. When Bacon’s, one of River Falls’ original anchors, was acquired by Dillard’s, Dillard’s moved its men’s department to the former Bacon’s, while keeping the women’s department at Green Tree Mall. In 2004, Dillard’s closed the men’s store at River Falls Mall as that mall declined, and returned the men’s department to the Green Tree store, making that store a full-line Dillard’s once more. Dillard’s expanded its location to become the largest single floor Dillard’s store and they completed their expansion of 60,000 sq ft (6,000 m2) in March 2005.
