Apple continues to expand in Asia and is preparing to open its fourth store in South Korea, the home of another tech giant, Samsung Electronis.
The new Apple Store in Seoul will open on September 24. The store will be located at Lotte World Mall in Seoul’s Jamsil district in the southeast of the capital. Lotte World Mall is an 11-story, 2,400,000 sq. ft. mall that opened in 2014.
Apple South Korea’s official website posted a news release about the upcoming opening, “Soon there will be a new Apple Store in Jamsil, which has led to Seoul’s prosperity. Do you want to pursue a unique idea or be inspired by something out of the ordinary? Here, each other’s colorful thoughts come together and unfold like a piece of silk.”
Apple entered the South Korean market in early 2018, opening its first store in the trendy Gangnam district. Later, there were Apple Store openings in areas in Yeouido (February 2021) and Myeongdong (April 2022).
Significantly, Apple’s opening of the new store actually coincides with the release of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, the new Apple Watch Series 8, SE and Ultra, and the new AirPods Pro in South Korea. This is one of the fastest-growing markets in the company’s portfolio. In 2021, Apple increased sales in the country by 24 percent, to nearly $6 billion.
