Covent Garden has long been a hotspot for tourists, but it is now attracting beauty enthusiasts from around the world as it has become London’s newest “IT” location.
No longer will beauty enthusiasts need to face the long haul across town to Selfridges. Many brands from Oxford Street are breaking out and opening their own standalone stores, particularly in Covent Garden, where you can find floors of makeup.
Urban Decay have opened their first ever store outside the US on King Street. It offers customers free mini makeovers without the need to spend a minimum product amount. If you are asked to purchase something to obtain that mini-makeover, your best bet is to opt for the Naked eyeshadow palettes.
Dior, Burberry and Chanel could change your life forever. It is very easy to go from one to the other, and although you may do so with a smile on your face, your wallet will not be too happy. If you have the time, you should make an appointment for a shape and paint at Chanel. This free service is a fantastic way to try the different shades of nail polish they offer.
The edges of the piazza is the place for skincare enthusiasts as that is where you will find Clinique’s Great Skin Lab. You will be provided with recommendations for your particular skin type and be offered a free trial size of moisturizer suitable for you.
Other stores around the square include Crabtree & Evelyn and L’Occitane. If it is anti-oxidant skin care you are after, Aesop offers a wide range.
As you head out of the main piazza, towards Neal Street, there is a new world to enter. There are two MAC stores where you can go on a Thursday to find limited edition collections. Other stores in this area include Bare Minerals, American Apparel and Shu Uemura.
You can obtain high street favorites from Boots on James Street and TK Maxx located on Long Acre is a great budget beauty item store, where you will find great prices on Elizabeth Arden, Ciate, OPI and Stila.
The sad part of this new world is that the Lush store has closed. The demand for high-end stores has resulted in stores such as The Body Shop at St Pancras Station closing as well. An Aspinal of London has taken its spot.
