What’s On Tap For One Of Miami’s Premier Shopping Destinations

Even when you have no trouble packing them in, it’s always wise to stay ahead of the curve. In restaurant parlance, that could mean changing the menu before diners get tired of the same old thing. The same thing applies on the retail front. Names that once struck a chord may not tickle today’s shoppers fancy, and it’s best to get in front of that before it becomes an issue. Combine that with a sincere dedication to sprucing things up as needed, and you have yourself a winning operating mindset.

As Miami.com shares, that’s on display at the venerable Bal Harbour Shops. Last year, names such as Aquazzura, Gianvito Rossi, Santoni, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Rolex by Tourneau joined the lineup. That was just the beginning. This year’s new arrivals include Monnalisa, Zimmermann, Cesare Attolini, Mr & Mrs Italy, and Linda Farrow.

President and CEO of Whitman Family Development Matthew Lazenby Matthew has previously noted how important it is for the family as a whole to insure its property remains first in class.

“We’re thrilled to be making this major investment in the future of Bal Harbour Shops, which will solidify our longstanding place at the forefront of global luxury retail and build on the vision that my grandfather Stanley Whitman had when he first developed the Shops in the 1960s,” he said. “As a business — and as a family — we have always believed that what’s good for the Shops is good for the Village, too, so these upgrades are also being made with the intention of benefiting the surrounding community.”

New names aren’t the only changes afoot at Bal Harbour Shops, and it sounds like the owners continue to hit the right notes.

“A major expansion to the tune of a $400-million enhancement plan adding 340,387 square feet of new retail space — nearly doubling (woah) the Shops’ current status,” Miami.com shares. “Among these upgrades will be the first Barneys New York flagship in the southeastern United States. There also will be a new plaza at the main entrance and improvements to anchor tenant Neiman Marcus, in addition to some new dining options, such as Freds at Barneys.”

A massive enhancement project, new dining, and retail destinations are on tap at Bal Harbour Shops, which is clearly a premier shopping destination that won’t be resting on its laurels anytime soon.
