Tagged as New York’s only outlet destination, Empire Outlets at Staten Island promises to give shoppers a chance to get luxury brands at bargain prices. This will be one of the big draws for customers in the new waterfront entertainment district in Staten Island.
At just 20 minutes on the ferry from Manhattan, this 100-store outlet is expected to attract big crowds when it opens in November 2017. There will be plenty of interesting food and drink options along the waterfront, as well as a boutique hotel with stunning views of New York City from its rooftop lounge.
This massive project in downtown Brooklyn is another development that seems to have been on the horizon for some years. As part of the overall mixed-use project here, there is a big retail complex that is now partially open for business.

A 2018 opening is planned for this innovative shopping destination at Oyster Bay in New York. The mall is at the heart of a mixed-use development that should be open by the end of 2018.
There will be 450,000 square feet of retail, dining, and entertainment space here, together with offices and homes. The overall project is known as Syosset Park, and it is described as a “walking village” that provides everything needed for a happy life in the 21st century.
The development of this complex in New Jersey seems to have been going on for a long time, as various issues have cropped up since the plans were first unveiled back in 2003. However, it is now believed that by mid-2018 it should finally be open to the public.
There will be more than 450 stores here, and it is also planned to include many exciting entertainment options. The Pepsi Globe, an indoor ski slope, and an indoor ice rink are among the features that have been mentioned as being part of the center.
Classed as an exciting day trip destination by the water, The Wharf brings together shopping, dining, and entertainment. Fresh seafood at DC’s Southwest Waterfront is among the current highlights, with October 2017 seeing a range of new stores and restaurants open.
This will be the end of Phase I, and Phase II will then start in the middle of 2018. The second phase will be completed in 2021, and this mile-long stretch of the Potomac River is sure to be hugely popular by then.
Rather than an entirely new mall, this is a massive $800 million expansion project at a center that was originally opened to the public back in 1964 under the name of the Century Shopping Center. The current changes have been on the drawing board for a while, and later in 2017, they should finally be completed.
Among the expected highlights are a remodeled Bloomingdale’s, a new Macy’s that will take up two levels, a new Nordstrom store, and an Eataly. The total space occupied will be 422,000 square feet, with a variety of formal and casual dining options expected to bring plenty of hungry shoppers here.
Set in a six-story building, this unique new center is all about luxury retail mixed with culture and style. The opening is scheduled for the spring of 2017, and the plans look very exciting.
The full list of tenants isn’t yet available at the time of writing, but top-quality shopping, dining, and entertainment have been promised. With 250,000 square feet to fill, there are sure to be some big-name tenants to come in, although the developers have admitted to being “picky” about who they choose.
Typically described as being the most popular mall in Houston, The Galleria is one of the nation’s biggest shopping destinations. Despite its huge, consistent success, it also recently underwent an extensive revamp that saw it get even bigger and better.
Among the most important changes is the addition of a giant new Saks Fifth Avenue store that is already open. 35 luxury retailers and several quality restaurants—such as Nobu and Fig & Olive—have also joined the mall as part of the remodeling.
Spring 2017 sees the first phase of this new look unveiled. A 90,000-square-foot Neiman Marcus store will anchor the mall and help to reposition it as the most upscale shopping development in Fort Worth.

This Simon Property Group mall in Texas is one of the most successful in the whole country. The fall of 2017 will see a massively renovated center opened, with additional parking and new retail space.
Some new restaurants will also join as part of this redevelopment, with an extra 220,000 square feet being added in total. Al fresco dining, improved restrooms, and enhanced lighting are some of the changes that regular shoppers are likely to notice.
The summer of 2017 will see a brand new premium outlet destination open for business in Norfolk. This 320,000-square-foot development will feature 90 designers and big-name brands.
Benefiting from easy road access, this center will include Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, & Hampton Road in its catchment areas. A full list of the retailers who will be operating from here will be released nearer to the opening date.
The 2017 holiday season is when we can expect to see this center open with 212,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space added to the existing mall. Among the most notable changes will be a new piazza, food hall, and four new restaurants.
A new parking deck and a VIP concierge area are among the other alterations to be carried out. Of course, this is already one of the biggest malls in the US, and it has been around since the early 1980s.
The shopping experience will be at the heart of a 102-acre mixed-use development. Indeed, the food offers and stores here will occupy an impressive 1 million square feet.

The Simon Property Group is planning a big expansion that should turn the Town Center at Sawgrass into a far more attractive destination for locals and tourists alike. The project is scheduled to commence in the fall of 2017.
