Singapore Telecommunications Limited, commonly abbreviated as SingTel, is a Singaporean telecommunications company, with a combined mobile subscriber base of 500 million customers from its operations and regional associates in 25 countries, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Thailand. It’s making it one of the largest mobile network operators in Singapore and the 20–30 largest in the world. The company was known as Telecommunications Equipment until 1995. It provides a diverse and full range of innovative communications services including fixed, mobile, data, Internet, IT, and TV.
Their main operations are in Singapore and Australia. They are also major telecommunications player in Asia and Africa through our strategic investments in five regional mobile operators, namely Telkomsel (Indonesia), Globe Telecom (the Philippines), Advanced Info Service (Thailand) and PBTL (Bangladesh). The Group also has investments in Bharti Airtel (India), which has the significant presence in Bangladesh, SriLanka, and Africa.
SingTel is also the largest company by market capitalization listed on the Singapore Exchange and is majority owned by Temasek Holdings, the investment arm of the Singapore government.
To serve the needs of multi-national corporations, SingTel also has a network of 35 offices in 19 countries and territories throughout Asia Pacific, Europe and the United States. These offices enable SingTel to deliver reliable and quality network solutions to its customers, either on its own or jointly with local partners. As at 31 March 2014, the Group served over 500 million mobile customers around the world. There are 10 SingTel retail shops in Singapore.
