British grocery retailer Sainsbury’s continues to invest in developing its new Neighbourhood Hub format. The company is responding to changing consumer behavior and aims to ensure its customers can access convenient locations in the heart of vibrant neighborhoods.

The tenth store in the new experimental concept opened in Henfield, West Sussex. The retailer’s press office emphasizes that Neighbourhood Hub is “a grocery interpretation of the famous supermarket offerings, sized between convenience stores and supermarkets.”

The stores feature a “specially selected assortment of products” for each location. In addition, the retailer focuses on making the location as convenient as possible for weekly shopping.

The Henfield store opened in a new retail concept after a three-month upgrade of the retail space. Sainsbury’s purchased the space from Knight’s Budgens last year, retaining the current staff.

Sainsbury’s Director of Real Estate Patrick Dunn said: “Like all of our other stores, Sainsbury’s Henfield Local will operate on 100% renewable electricity and 100% LED lighting as part of our ambition to become ‘net zero’ in our operations by 2035.”
