British fashion brand Monsoon has expanded its presence in London. Following the opening of a vintage pop-up store on Portobello Road in May, Monsoon opened a new full-size store on Upper Street.

The new outlet is located at 290 Upper Street, Islington. According to the company’s press office, the store is located in a former pub building and offers a “tranquil space” where shoppers can browse the full range of women’s collections.

“Our new boutique format has received a warm welcome with our recent store openings, and we’re looking forward to our new presence in Islington and serving our great north London customer base.” said Buying and Merchandising director Naomi Robertson.

The company is investing in new physical stores, inspired by the successful launch and strong operating performance of stores opened last year in Bath, Edinburgh and Cambridge.

The womenswear-focused brand follows a revamped strategy to open stores in the London suburbs and select locations in the city. Last month, Monsoon opened a Vintage format to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

As of last month the second quarter of 2023, there are 23 Monsoon stores in London, and four more will open before the end of 2023. In particular, an outlet at Waterloo Station is scheduled to open in late June, a retail space aimed at travelers ahead of the new beach season.

Purchasing and merchandising director Naomi Robertson said: “In the year of our 50th anniversary, it’s great to expand our physical retail presence again.
