Finnish Music Hall of Fame opens at Mall of Tripla in autumn 2019

Opening in autumn 2019 in Helsinki, Finland, as part of Mall of Tripla, Finnish Music Hall of Fame is an interactive and experimental museum that showcases music from different decades and presents the entire spectrum of Finnish music.

At the heart of the new music, the museum is a Hall of Fame presenting artists and bands who are loved and respected by Finns, and new artists will be added to the Hall of Fame annually. Also, the museum will present profiles through films, videos, photographs as well as various items, interiors and infotainment elements.

“The goal is to provide a living room where music lovers from all over the world can return to again and again,” says Mikko Vanni, Chairman of the Board of Finnish Music Hall of Fame.

Finnish Music Hall of Fame will be a new addition to the Nordic music museums, including Ragnarock in Roskilde, Denmark; Rockheim in Trondheim, Norway; and ABBA the Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. It can also be compared to the several Hall of Fame museums around the world. Staffan Holm and Mattias Hansson, who co-founded ABBA the Museum, have also taken part in the project’s conceptualization and design.

First partnerships have been signed

The new music museum’s main museum partner is the National Museum of Finland. Finnish Music Hall of Fame also has access to the unique archives of the Finnish Broadcasting Company. The project’s Director of Content is Jere Jäppinen, who will be working on the project along with his position as Curator and Researcher at the Helsinki City Museum. The first primary corporate partner of the museum is L Fashion Group. The commercial contract negotiations will officially start in January 2018.
Modern technology and virtual reality will have a crucial role in creating an unforgettable experience at the Finnish Music Hall of Fame. A Helsinki-based company Teatime Research is the music museum’s main partner in producing virtual reality experiences. Other technology companies partnering with the music museum are Arilyn, MFabrik, and Taction Enterprises, the developer of a music glove that allows anyone to play some instruments easily.

Located in central Helsinki in Tripla

Tripla offers the museum a unique setting. The hall can be entered either through the shopping mall or directly from outdoors, through the terrace square. Mall of Tripla further houses a one-of-a-kind event area of around 3,000 square metres which the museum can use, providing a year-round program to residents and travellers alike.

This location is ideal for the museum because it is easy to reach from anywhere in Finland. In addition to the shopping mall’s expected 40 million visitors, who will bring a flow of customers to the museum, the museum itself will bring visitors and out-of-towners. “Consumers are looking for experiences, and Finnish Music Hall of Fame will bring something completely new that has never been seen in Finland before to Mall of Tripla,” says Commercial Development Director Pirjo Aalto.
