McDonald's drive through restaurant

McDonald’s restaurants, as well as other cafes and restaurants worldwide, were forced to close the halls for visitors and work only on issuance, delivery of online orders, and service cars in the drive-thru. The company reported a significant drop in sales in March, top management gave up half of its salary due to the Coronavirus crisis, and several fries suppliers were forced to leave production because of low demand.

Despite this, the corporation is developing new restaurant formats that will allow it to work effectively in the post quarantine era. Entrance to restaurants may be limited, so there will be a need to make particular waiting areas before entering. In these waiting areas, visitors will need to be at a safe distance from each other; at the entrance to the restaurants, all guests will be measured temperature. For this purpose, in some countries, the fast-food chain is already buying electronic thermometers.

Protective barriers will be installed inside the restaurants, glasses will be installed, and floor markings will appear. All employees will work in appropriate protective equipment and keep their distance using protective screens. Now such experimental restaurants McDonald’s are already being launched in the Netherlands reports Business Insider. Also, the restaurants may have food tray carts, which will also help visitors to observe the distance.

The corporation is currently testing various designs of warning signs and illustrations to remind visitors to follow the course.

The management of the company reported that many restaurants in the chain could significantly reduce the number of items on the menu. Due to the risks associated with supply and the need to simplify production, the chain will have to rework the list and leave only the most popular dishes. The most significant changes will occur in restaurants located in shopping centers.
