The Galleria Houston

About this mall

It hosts in excess of 26 million visitors annually.
The center covers 223000m² of space, with 400 high-end stores, restaurants, two hotels and three office blocks. It offers visitors a full-size ice rink, a super play area for children, a video arcade, two swimming pools and three banks, among a range of other stores.
It offers shoppers 13900 parking spaces within seven garages. It is located between Memorial and River Oaks, two of the most exclusive neighborhoods. It includes stores such as Ralph Lauren and Chanel, along with a host of fine dining restaurants.
Gerald D Hines developed The Galleria which opened on November 16, 1970. The center was based on the Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II in Milan from which it borrowed the distinctive glazed barrel vault which spans the central axis of the complex.
Its first expansion was completed during 1976 and added 33000m² of retail space. This extension included office space and another hotel. The second expansion during 1986 added a new wing.
