About this mall
Located in Dallas, Texas conveniently situated at the intersection Northwest Highway and US 75 , NorthPark Mall is home to over 235 stores and restaurants. NorthPark was the first shopping center featured on Vogue Magazine.
This upscale mall has annual sales of more than $1 billion. NorthPark Center is number nineteen of the largest shopping centers in the United States.
Situated on a hundred acres of cotton field outside Dallas, Northpark Mall is the brain child of developer Raymond Nasher. In 1960, he hired E.G Hamilton of Harrell+Hamilton Architects to design this mega mall.
Opened in 1965, Northpark Mall was then the largest climate-controlled retail establishment in the world. Northpark Mall is now owned by the Caruth family and managed, operated and leased by husband and wife David J. Haemisegger and the developer’s daughter, Nancy A. Nasher.
In 2006, an expansion more than doubled the size of the existing center. NorthPark hired the original architecture firm to ensure seamless union with the original structure. Northpark Mall’s architecture facilitates more natural light and blends perfectly with the original mall’s sleek, modern design.
The expansion included new specialty retail shops and a third-floor sixteen-screen AMC theater. The new two-storey expansion closed a continuous loop through the entire complex, making it easy to navigate and encouraging a smooth traffic flow.
Northpark Mall was the site and sponsor of the 2009 The American Film Institute’s Dallas International Film Festival held in the AMC NorthPark 15 movie theater center.
Northpark Mall is famous for having an art museum inside a shopping center.
In 2007, NorthPark Center was designated one of the seven retail wonders of the modern world. Other winners of this award include: Neiman Marcus’ store at Natick Collection in Massachusetts, Japan’s Mikimoto store in Ginza, England’s Bullring shopping center, Poland’s Złote Tarasy in Warsaw, Apple’s flagship store in New York City and Italy’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II .
NorthPark is home to Texas’ first H&M, a trendy and Swedish fashion label.
A recent expansion of NorthPark has facilitated the addition of a wide range of famous labels opening boutiques exclusive to Texas shoppers. These include: Roberto Cavalli, Tod’s, Officine Panerai, Eileen Fisher, Elie Tahari, Helen Ficalora, The North Face, Spanx, and Na Hoku.
Northpark Mall’s specialty shops exclusive to Dallas include: Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Cartier, CH Carolina Herrera, David Yurman, Diesel (brand), Valentino, Salvatore Ferragamo, Versace, Henri Bendel, Splendid, Omega SA, Stuart Weitzman, Sperry Top-Sider, TAG Heuer, Ted Baker, Tumi Inc., and Wolford.
In 2006 NorthPark marked its tenth annual Fashion!Dallas/Kim Dawson Model Search. The competition relocated from Galleria Dallas. This competition sparked the modeling careers of such supermodels as: Erin Wasson, Mimi Roche, Chaise Mooty, and Ali Michael.
