Located in Cerritos, California, this super regional mall opened in 1971. Los Cerritos Center is the city of Cerritos’ largest tax revenue, generating $581 per square foot in sales or a total of $296 million annually. This bring $3 million a year in revenue to the city. Los Cerritos Center is managed by The Macerich Company.
Renovations in 2010 included three main corridors with some extensions. Skylights capitalize on the Southern California sunshine. Marble and stone were added to the walkways, along with seating and landscaping. Also added was The Macy’s wing which houses merchandise, confectionary, and services f. The main concourse is host to upscale fashion stores, restaurants and boutiques. The Sears wing houses specialty shops in entertainment, facilities for the younger niche market, and the Palms Court Cafe food court.
Forever 21 opened the first flagship styled store in 2010. Nordstrom department store and wing opened on the site of the former Robinsons-May store. The added wing houses nine additional in-line shops and restaurants.
The Los Cerritos Center, in conjunction with the city of Cerritos, is home to the Festival of Friendship a multicultural event held every February. Cultural booths and performances are held annually with the goal of reaching out to the area’s various diverse communities.
