Dover Mall

About this mall

Dover Delaware’s second enclose, air-conditioned mall was built in 1982. Anchored by Sears and other department stores including Boscov’s,  J. C. Penny’s and Macy’s), the mall was renovated in 1992 and reopened in August 1993. Dover Mall enjoys the notoriety of being the first shopping mall in the state to ban smoking.

In 1999, Carmike Cinemas grew from six screens to fourteen. The mall also renovated and expanded its food court.

In 2003, The Mills Corporation acquired the mall from Cadillac Fairview, and added approximately 500,000 sq. ft. of new stores and entertainment venues.

In April 2007, the Simon Property Group acquired the mall. In 2013, several new stores, including a new 53,183 sq. ft. Dick’s Sporting Goods were added.
