Boise Towne Square Mall is a mall in Boise, Idaho, United States. The largest mall in Idaho, it features over 186 stores, with Borders, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Macy’s, and Sears as anchor stores. The mall is owned by the Chicago, Illinois-based General Growth Properties.
The mall also operates an out parcel shopping center, Boise Towne Plaza, which is anchored by Old Navy and previously Linens ‘n Things until 2008 and Circuit City until 2009. In addition, the mall operates nine freestanding businesses on the its property.
The mall was expanded in 1998 to add a three level Dillard’s department store, several new stores, a larger food court, and more space for The Bon Marchè. Sears received a slight expansion in 2000. In 2006, the mall was expanded to add 35,000 square feet (3,300 m²) of retail and restaurant space. Borders, The Cheesecake Factory, and Talbots were added in this expansion. The mall also received interior renovations, which haven’t been touched since the mall’s opening in 1988. In August 2008, anchor Mervyns announced it would close its location in the mall in late early November 2008, as part of the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. Linens ‘n Things, which operates on the out parcel shopping center the mall owns, announced it too will close after the Christmas season. On January 16, it was announced that Circuit City, which also operates on the out parcel shopping center, will closed in early 2009. The Reel Theatre, which closed in 2007, was demolished in October 2009 for a PetSmart store, which is relocating from its current location nearby.
