In a grand unveiling, Lanvin has introduced its latest venture at South Coast Plaza, marking a significant milestone in the luxury brand’s revival. Under the auspices of the Chinese Fosun group, which also presides over Club Med, Lanvin is charting a new course following its near-brush with bankruptcy in 2017.
Architectural renaissance
The new boutique is a testament to Lanvin’s enduring appeal, particularly among Asian consumers who frequent South Coast Plaza. The store’s design, first revealed in New York with the opening of a flagship on Madison Avenue, is the brainchild of Belgian architect Bernard Dubois. His neo-modernist aesthetic is now encapsulated in the fourth iteration of his bold retail architecture vision for Lanvin.
A nod to heritage
Dubois’ design draws from the Neoclassical and Art Deco movements, eras that are deeply woven into Lanvin’s history. The boutique features classical architectural elements such as enfilades, symmetries, columns, and architraves, all reinterpreted with precision. The result is a majestic setting that complements the chic and vibrant couture of France’s oldest couture house still in operation.
Eco-friendly elegance spanning
1,540 square feet, the South Coast Plaza boutique integrates eco-conscious elements like marmorino—a natural clay-based material reminiscent of southern France’s landscapes. The store embraces circular economy principles and energy conservation with recyclable aluminum panels and advanced lighting systems. A rich tapestry of textures is created using materials such as limestone, oxidized and hammered brass, and beige velvet within a subdued color scheme.
The boutique opened its doors on level one, offering a handpicked selection of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, leather goods, accessories, footwear, and dedicated spaces for Lanvin Lab and Edition Soir—a perennial collection of evening wear.
Expanding horizons
With existing boutiques in key locations across the U.S., including Madison Avenue NY, Soho NY, Beverly Hills CA, Las Vegas NV, Bal Harbour FL, Miami Design District FL, Lanvin has further solidified its American presence with this latest addition at South Coast Plaza in California.
