The Heights at Monmouth will slide into the spot that’s currently home to the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown, New Jersey, and this project has the potential to be a transformative project for the area. The site is located just a stone’s throw away from the venerable Jersey Shore, an area that is chock full of local residents and frequented by tourists throughout the warm months.
As Jersey Digs shares, Kushner Cos. has partnered up with Rouse Properties to bring its vision to life, and both companies have noted their excitement for this massive $500 million project that’s projected to be completed by 2020.
“This long-term investment in Eatontown will transform Monmouth Mall into a 24/7 attraction unlike any other in the state,” noted Laurent Morali, President of Kushner Companies. “We’re thrilled to partner with industry leader Rouse to deliver a cutting-edge project that will serve Eatontown, Monmouth County and New Jersey for years to come.”
“We are excited to partner with Kushner to execute our shared vision for The Heights at Monmouth. Like us, Kushner has a proven track record of successfully identifying and unlocking the inherent value at its assets through strategic renovations and property updates,” added Brian Harper, Chief Executive Office of Rouse Properties. “Throughout this project, we will leverage each other’s deep redevelopment and transformational expertise to deliver an innovative community-focused destination center that truly revolutionizes the way people live, eat, shop and unwind in Monmouth County and beyond. We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Eatontown community and working together with the City and its people moving forward.”
The Monmouth Mall currently spans a whopping 1.5 million square feet, and plans call for the site to be transformed into more of an open-air shopping experience complete with dining, entertainment, and apartments. The final project could include as many as 700 apartments, offices, a food hall, a plaza for performances, indoor and outdoor dining, indoor sports facilities, and a bowling alley.
The project is expected to draw inspiration from popular open-air projects across the country such as Santana Row in San Jose, California, and The Domain in Austin, Texas. Those are some ambitious goals, and area residents should be absolutely over the moon at the possibilities on tap.
