Walmart has maintained their number one position on the 2014 edition of the Interbrand Best Retail Brands list. Although the group has experienced a 6% decline in the brand value, it still showed a huge margin over the next brand. Amazon, Whole Foods, Cabela’s and Macy’s brand value indicated an increase in excess of 25% during this year.
The Interbrand report places the top 50 European and North American retail brands based on brand value. The report also includes top retail brands from the Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
Not only has Walmart taken the first spot in North American, it is also regarded as the most valuable retail brand globally, indicating a value of $131,877 billion. Outside of North America, the top retailers in the different regions are:
Europe – H&M – brand value USD 18,168 billion
Latin America – Natura – brand value USD 3,156 billion
Asia-Pacific – Woolworths – brand value USD 4,948 billion
In North American, the top five positions remained the same as 2013. Canadian brands have made their appearance alongside U.S. brands for the first time this year.
