Ingka Centres is implementing a project to create the first fully organic food hall in San Francisco. The project partners will be London-based operator Kerb and the founder of Claus Meyer, the influential New Nordic cuisine movement.

The food hall at 945 Market Street will open in the first quarter 2024. The two-story gastronomic space will total 2,500 square meters (23,000 square feet). Saluhall will bring together local vendors with local specialties and several bars with beer and wine. Eighty percent of the food hall’s residents are expected to offer all-organic food and beverages.

“We at Ingka Centres want to create a destination for the many people to meet, relax, play and try new things. Saluhall is a celebration of Scandinavian food principles that nourish both body and soul. Embracing the ethos of a progressive city, Saluhall is more than a food hall. It is a community, a meeting and eating place that unites local vendors and inspires conscious food choices,” explains Stéphane Keulian, F&B Concept Development Leader at Ingka Centres.

“Saluhall’s inception is rooted in a dedication to spotlighting local food, drink and people with its ambitious commitment to plant-forward as a way of life, aiming to transform the traditional food hall experience. This partnership exemplifies the collaborative, internationalist spirit of San Francisco, where local businesses can come together to create something exceptional”, commented Ingka Centres.

The company said the upcoming debut of Saluhall, a joint project with Klaus Meyer and KERB, marks the exciting development of Ingka Centres’ new meeting place. Combined with the recent opening of IKEA’s first city-format store and the opening of Hej!Workshop, which includes Industrious co-working spaces, these offerings create a welcoming, collaborative and vibrant community for San Francisco’s diverse population.
