Inditex’s Bershka set to enter indian market with Mumbai store

Inditex, the Spanish apparel giant, is gearing up to introduce its youthful and trend-driven brand Bershka to the Indian market, following the successful expansion of its flagship brand Zara. Bershka’s inaugural brick-and-mortar store in India is slated to open in Mumbai this November.

Launch details

According to sources familiar with the matter, Bershka will debut in India with the opening of its first store on November 1. The store will be located at Phoenix Palladium Mall in Mumbai’s Lower Parel area. Currently, the outlet is undergoing renovations to prepare for its grand opening.

The upcoming Bershka store at Phoenix Palladium Mall is strategically positioned adjacent to the upcoming Uniqlo outlet. The mall already hosts a diverse array of global apparel brands, including American Eagle, Burberry, Calvin Klein Jeans, Emporio Armani, Gant, and Gas.

Inditex’s expansion strategy

Headquartered in Galicia, Spain, Inditex operates across 93 global markets. In addition to Zara and Bershka, the company also manages Pull&Bear, another youth-focused apparel brand. Pull&Bear is also under consideration for a potential launch in the Indian market, with a tentative timeline set for 2025.

Inditex first introduced Zara to India in 2010, achieving profitability within the first year of operations. Currently, Zara operates 21 stores across India and continues to expand, albeit at a moderated pace.
