Hessen-Center In Frankfurt To Undergo €45-million Refurbishment

Written by:

Hessen-Center in Frankfurt was opened in 1971 and accommodates approximately 115 shops and service providers on three stories. It will be extensively modernized, redesigned and upgraded in the coming two years. For this, ECE will implement a broad package of measures to significantly raise the quality of stay and the services of the center, and give it a more appealing and state-of-the-art overall appearance. These steps will also include the demolition of the existing parking decks and the construction of an all-new multi-story car park, a better infrastructure, and many additional customer services, e.g., new seating or improved indoor navigation, and an extensive upgrading and refurbishment of the mall’s interior design. The renovation comprises several phases. It will start with the demolition of the present parking garage in January 2018 and is due for completion at the end of 2019.  A total of approximately 45 million euros will be invested into the refurbishment of Hessen-Center.

The refurbished center is intended to target younger customers and families increasingly. Bringing in the off-price retailer TK Maxx in November 2017 was the first step towards targeting a young and trendier audience and increasing the center’s offer in fashion. Moreover, the beauty and lifestyle concept Rituals will open a store at Hessen-Center in January.

The existing parking decks will be replaced by a new, modern parking garage with approximately 1,800 parking spaces on three levels. A parking guidance system, which shows available parking spaces, will be installed.

Updating and extending the services at Hessen-Center is part of the wide ECE service campaign being realized under the name “At your Service,” which will initially be implemented at approx. 60 ECE centers. Hessen-Center is one of the first centers where “At your Service” is implemented.  Measures will be developed and applied for every analyzed center to advertise the services on offer there and improve or complement them where relevant to the customers.  To be successful and to stand out from its competitors from the online and the offline world, a shopping center has to provide attractive and personalized services.
