The on-again, off-again American Dream megamall project at the site of the Meadowlands in Northern New Jersey is officially a go this time around. Originally conceived as a project known as Xanadu way back in 2003, the project has finally achieved liftoff. Portions of the project are expected to be completed by March 2019, and another wave will be wrapped up in October 2019. So what’s on tap for this massive project? As shared by NJ.com, here are the names that have signed on the bottom line.
American Dream is taking the experiential concept to a whole other level, as there will be a whole host of interactive and fun activities on site to keep the whole family entertained. Included is a concept known as KidZania, which sounds like it has the potential to be a huge hit.
“KidZania is built to scale for children ages four to 14. The park includes paved streets, vehicles, and cars, and offers dozens of professions for children to work in, including being a pilot, TV news broadcaster, chef or police officer,” NJ.com reports.
Who doesn’t like a trip to the aquarium? Visitors to American Dream won’t have to go too far for that, as a Sea Life Aquarium will be on site that features a tropical ocean tank, underwater tunnel, multiple viewing windows and feeding demonstrations. This next one is sure to appeal to kids of all ages as well.
“The LEGOLAND Discovery Center, along with SEA LIFE, are expected to cover 70,000 square feet. The indoor theme park will include play areas, a 4-D cinema, brick pool, classes and LEGO rides,” NJ.com adds.
Movie buffs will undoubtedly be enthralled by this high-tech option for their viewing pleasure.
“Cinemex, a Mexico-City based company, will put a fourth U.S. location in the Meadowlands,” NJ.com continues. “The 1,400 complex will have 12 screens, with dine-in options and private viewing rooms, oversized seating and 4-D.”
So that takes care of the fun stuff, but what about shopping? American Dream has that covered in abundance, with names including Hermes, Artizia, Zara, Gap, and Banana Republic among the names set to join the roster. Lord & Taylor and Saks Fifth Avenue are also on board, and they will slide into an area of the property dubbed as ‘The Collections,’ which is designated for luxury and lifestyle retailing.
It’s been a long wait for American Dream to finally come to fruition, but it sounds like it will be well worth it.
