LA-based multinational fast fashion retailer Forever 21, which has long refused to expand its retail network, has decided to strengthen its position in the U.S. The retailer plans to open 14 new stores by June 2023, including outlet stores. The first is scheduled to open in August at the Gran Plaza Outlets in Calexico, California.

Other openings will be in Aurora, Illinois; Warwick, Rhode Island; Las Vegas; Altoona, Iowa; Grove City and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Norfolk and Leesburg, Virginia; Cape Cod, Massachusetts; Woodstock, Georgia; Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; Florida City, Florida; and Tejon Ranch, California.

Forever 21 has refused to invest in expanding its retail network for the past several years. The company said its “online business remains strong and is a key component of its growth strategy.” But recently, the retailer has begun to note that more customers are returning to traditional retail.

“We’re also seeing even more customers choosing the buy online, pick up in store option, and these 14 new stores reflect our commitment to ensuring we have the local inventory to meet demand for this increasingly popular omni shopping model,” the company commented.

The bankruptcy-avoiding brand continues to be one of the favorites among Gen Z. In the near future, the company will invest in grand store openings with photo shoots, marketing promotions, gifts and treats for its new customers.
