The U.K. is preparing to abolish the national quarantine. Lockdown, officially announced on November 5, will end on December 2, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said. Simultaneously, after abolishing the national quarantine, England’s government will again introduce a system of restrictions, dividing the regions according to three levels of threat of the virus spread.
All catering establishments and non-food retail stores, cinemas, sports and fitness facilities have been closed in England. Residents are prohibited from gathering in groups of more than two people. The movement of citizens is limited to trips to work, to study, and to stores and pharmacies. Similar rules will also apply in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
According to Johnson, with the official abolition of the quarantine, the old three-step system of restrictions will be changed, along with a relaxation of cafes and restaurants and entertainment and sports clubs.
In the case of the first level of the threat of proliferation, bars, pubs, and restaurants will close at 23:00, for residents will prohibit from gathering in groups of more than six people. Simultaneously, stores, cinemas, beauty salons, and shopping centers will be open to visitors. And holding sports and entertainment events will be possible if the occupancy rate of halls and stands is not more than 50%.
The most likely proliferation threat will involve the complete closure of the business and all activities’ cancellation. In the coming days, the government will announce how they assign different threat levels for the country’s areas. It is expected that in most cases, maximum restrictions will be applied in the first stage. However, before quarantine, half of the cities were classified as having medium threat levels.
