DICK’S Sporting Goods Inc. may momentarily appear to be content with basing their entire operations in the U.S. and occupying a lofty position on the prestigious Fortune 500 list. However, their expansionary efforts are on steroids.
In the month of September alone, DICK’S has announced coming launches of eight new stores and one relocated store in nine different states. This is on the heels of a 14.3% stock price increase in August. The latest opening is in The Golden State. When the store opens its doors on Friday, October 14, it would be DICK’S store #46 in California, and store #664 in the U.S.
The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks (176 West Hillcrest Drive) will host the store. Furthermore, in usual DICK’S festive fashion, the launch dubbed a ‘Grand Opening celebration’ would run for three days—Friday, October 14, through Sunday, October 16.
DICK’S has two promotions in store for shoppers who flag off the launch. An Adidas Go-To Performance T-Shirt awaits each of the first 100 shoppers. The launch is a 3-day extravaganza, and DICK’S has even more in store for shoppers who could not make it early enough on Friday. The first 100 shoppers who make it to the store on Saturday and Sunday would each avail of a FREE Mystery Gift Card.
Saturday shoppers would witness the special guest appearance of Eric Karros, beloved former Los Angeles First Baseman.
DICK’S Sporting Goods intends to push the limits of sports goods retailing with an inaugural improved footwear section. This section will offer a diverse array of quality casual and sports performance footwear.
In addition, the new location will be home to Under Armour and Nike shops. Furthermore, the location like many other DICK’S stores will be the ultimate destination for buying outdoor and athlete apparel as well as the newest gear for fitness, hunting, camping, fishing, and team sports. DICK’S power-packed retail package also includes DICK’S certified PROS services (well in excess of 40) that pertains to outdoor and sports specialties.
Lauren Hobart, DICK’S Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, maintains that DICK’S goal with the Thousand Oaks store unveiling is “to better serve the needs of athletes and sports fans in the community.”
Seeing that the corporate giant has earmarked $420 million for investments in fiscal 2016, we can expect more of these grand opening celebrations coming to many more states going forward.
