The "City Point", generously sized shopping centre, was opened in spring 2002. It was constructed by the ECE Group from Hamburg, directly on the Königsplatz in the city of Kassel. With its striking architecture it is the metropolitan shopping magnet in the region.
On 20,000 m² and on 5 levels, the City-Point houses about 60 specialty shops, one department store, a sports retailer, fashion boutiques, an outlet for entertainment electronics, and several restaurants and cafés.

The building sets a significantly modern architectural accent in the town’s centre. The curved glass façade aligns itself to fit the circular expanse of the Königsplatz. The generously sized indoor pedestrian areas surround a spacious atrium, covered by a glass cupola. The Italian ice cream parlor on the second floor (with loggia) offers a beautiful view onto the crowded Königsplatz, with its surrounding sycamore trees.
