About 20 years after its opening, the center will undergo a total makeover by ECE company. The center will get a fresh appearance and a new look during on a comprehensive refurbishment. The modernization recently started and will be completed by the end of 2017. The overall investment amounts to the center is about 10 million euro.
The modernization aims to increase the quality of stay at Gesundbrunnen-Center and to give a modern look to the Gesundbrunnen-Cente. It will include an optimized lighting idea in the shopping mall with new lamps, comfortable new seating, new design details from warm materials such as wood and many more changes to the interior. The old escalators will be reinstated by late models that use considerably less place. Therefore, the interior will appear bigger and ensure a friendlier and brighter environment.
The center will get new tenants: the first REWE Center will open at Gesundbrunnen-Center Berlin. A REWE Center is a large REWE grocery shop that has the doubled the size of a regular supermarket, a sales area of approximately 3,300 m², and an assortment of around 35,000 products. Also, in the center will be located the off-price retailer TK Maxx.
With its 110 stores in a sales area of approximately 25,000 m², Gesundbrunnen-Center is the primary shopping hub in the Gesundbrunnen district which conveniently located for visitors using public transport services. Also, roughly 1,000 parking spaces are available to visitors arriving by car.
