British Land’s €51M development takes Drake Circus to its next level

The €51m development is set to include 13 restaurant units, 450 car park spaces and a 12-screen cinema for operation by Cineworld.  At present there is a coach station on the site, but this will be relocated.
An in-depth planning application is in the development stage and should be ready for submission during early 2015.
The leisure development will be a complementary feature to Drake Circus Shopping Center, which should broaden its overall appeal, turn it into an evening destination and promote longer trading hours.  Since British Land acquired it during 2011, Drake Circus has been successful in obtaining various brand names, such as Yo! Sushi, Fat Face and Apple.
British Land’s Retail Development Director, David Pollock, said Plymouth offers a successful and vibrant city center and has a strong local attraction, which will be boosted further by this investment.
Plymouth offers an affluent, large catchment of around 560000 people and its tourist trade consists of around 3.4m annual visitors.
