The Carphone Warehouse Group or Carphone Warehouse is and independent mobile phone retailer based in the United Kingdom. Carphone Warehouse has over 1,700 stores across Europe, and outside the UK it trades under the name Phone House. In May 2014, Carphone Warehouse and Dixons Retail merged to form Dixons Carphone.
The mobile phone market is a very lucrative one, and by playing their cards right, Carphone Warehouse was able to capitalize on the cell phone market and strike it big in Europe. Having over 1,700 stores all across Europe is not an easy feat, yet the company has managed to do just this with the invaluable service of David Ross. David Ross let the company develop in Europe and the United States under the name The Phone House. When he led the company’s IPO in 2000, it was so lucky that it did not require any borrowing or the involvement of outsiders.
