In 1973, French clothing designer Alain Manoukian opened his first off-the-rack women’s clothing line. At first, he dealt only in Italian designs, Alain soon realized his creations much better. In six years later, he created his line of clothing and franchised his line to department stores, online clothing sites, and individual entrepreneurs. Headquartered in France, he has more than 1300 stores in North American Belgium, Russia and Japan.
