7 Eleven is a subordinate of the Seven & I Holdings Co. LTD. The largest chain of convenience stores worldwide.
Started in 1927 by John Jefferson Green in Dallas. TX.  John was an employee of the Southland Ice company. Mr. Green began selling bread, milk, and eggs in a makeshift storefront in the ice house where he was employed.  The manager of the ice plant where Mr. Green was employed,   Joe Thompson saw the opportunity the selling of convenience items provided and bought out the ice company. Leading to the creation of the Tot’em brand convenience stores in 1928.  The company also began selling gasoline the same year.
In 1946 the company name was changed to 7 Eleven, a reflection of the new hours of operation 7 am to 11 pm daily. No other store up to this point was open seven days a week, 16 hours daily. 
7 Eleven branded frozen soft drink by the name of “Slurpee” and the “Big Gulp” a large cup for the sale of soda. 
In 1998, 7 Eleven was rescued in failure by Ito-Yokado of Japan. The company’s  largest franchisee. The company is currently headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and operates over 50,000 convenience stores worldwide. 
Employing 45,000 people with a revenue of over 84 billion dollars annually. 7 Eleven works under a classic governance with a Board Of Directors and a CEO Joseph DePinto.
