The city of Los Angeles will soon have another massive project that will offer up more than its fair share of places to eat and be scene. According to Los Angeles Eater, the project known as Edin Park will be an absolutely massive food hall located on Beverly Boulevard.
The new building will span two stories and 50,000 square feet. It will be divvied up among 31 individual concepts that will range in size between 300 and 500 square feet apiece. Additionally, there will be a roughly 1,500 square foot communal dining hall, which will afford guests with the ability to order from any of the establishments inside the walls, likely from some type of tablet-based system.
Although ground breaking is not anticipated until the end of this year at the earliest, anticipation has been peaked by the release of early renderings. Those renderings reveal 24 of the food stalls will be located on the ground floor, while another seven will take up residence on the rooftop. Speculation has also ramped up on which concepts may be occupying the stalls, but it’s been confirmed that chef Octavio Becerra will serve as sort of a master curator to bring all of the concepts together.
The general concept calls for things to be easier for diners when compared to other food hall style offerings throughout the city. As evidenced by the desire to implement a tableside ordering system, the idea is that guests will be able to try anything they like without leaving the comfort of their seats. That could be a pretty big hit with today’s diners, who are attracted to gathering places in which they can gather and feast on shareable plates. It’s pretty easy to envision scenarios in which bits and pieces of each stall are ordered by large groups, who will also likely be attracted to the on-site offerings of alcohol that are planned.
All in all, it looks like an incredibly exciting concept that should strike a chord in the heart of Los Angeles. Early timelines for the project point to a possible opening by the end of 2017. The food hall concept is beginning to catch on in other cities as well, and we can be sure that this will not be the only massive offering to enter the pipeline.
