Against the background of an increase in coronavirus cases, many European countries have already introduced or are planning to introduce restrictive measures and return the population to the quarantine regime. Each state considers its own set of actions, where a full quarantine will be introduced, or strengthened social distance propaganda.
Britain is already preparing for a new lockdown, the government plans to announce the new rules for quarantine soon. We are talking about the introduction of restrictions on the six-month period.
France’s official statistics say about 18,000 new cases every day, which is mainly due to the resumption of the school year and the social life of young people after a period of isolation. Simultaneously, the “lockdown” option is not considered by the authorities; instead, a system of regional danger levels has been developed, with each zone assigned its own color. In the most affected zones, the restriction zone is more severe. In Paris and some other major cities, bars are closed; restrictions are imposed on the number of people who can gather in one place, and it is mandatory to wear masks.
Spain noted a sharp increase in the number of diseases after removing restrictions, which is characterized as a second wave. In January, the program was extended, allowing companies to send workers on forced vacations or reduce their hours while maintaining unemployment benefits at 70. Restrictions on movement are being imposed in some regions; nightclubs are being closed and wearing masks is mandatory,
The Czech Republic also shows the highest growth rate of cases for this period. Here we observe both the highest and the fastest growing daily rate of new cases in Europe. And the ratio of positive results to the number of tests performed is unprecedented 30%. The country has a system for tracking the infected, but so far they are not wearing masks. Restrictive measures include restrictions on restaurants’ work, a ban on visiting stores for groups of more than two people, the disconnection of Wi-Fi in the malls to exclude the meeting of young people, and a partial transition to distance learning for schoolchildren. Simultaneously, the prime minister warned that new isolation cannot be ruled out and urged people to stay home for the weekend.
For Germany, the growth rate of new cases is about 5,000 daily, which is a much higher figure than in April, but compared to other European countries, this figure is relatively low. New restrictions are still being imposed in part, including a ban on mass gatherings and the reduction of opening hours for bars and restaurants in major cities. However, on October 9, Angela Merkel held a videoconference with the mayors of 11 largest German cities where the introduction of new stricter restrictions was discussed.
