The mall is located at 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It has been in existence since 1964, when it opened as the Century Square Shopping Center. It’s had its share of renovation and expansions throughout the years, but this one will be nothing short of transformative.
Westfield Century City Mall is currently anchored by Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s, both of which will be getting a makeover as part of the mall’s transformation. Bloomingdale’s is scheduled for a major remodel, while Macy’s will relocate and open a 155,000 square foot space in the mall.
The mall will welcome a new tenant that just happens to be one of largest retailers in the country. Nordstrom’s is set to be introduced to Westfield via a three-level, 149,000 square foot store that is scheduled to open in 2017. All told, over 420,000 square feet of retail space is expected to be added upon completion of this enormous project.
As part of its overall transformation, Westfield has its sights set of being more than just a retail shopping stop, but rather a part of Westfield Group’s overall vision for the space to be more of a broader hospitality destination. Along those lines, Eataly will be making its long-awaited West Coast debut at Westfield.
Eataly has been a major hit in the New York City and Chicago markets, and it’s expected to have the same impact when it comes to Los Angeles. The enormous Italian marketplace offers a wide variety of restaurants, grocery and bakery items, food and beverage counters, and even a cooking school.

In addition to Eataly, an all-new mall dining district is on tap, complete with an outdoor theme to take advantage of the California weather. Tree-lined pathways and gardens will be situated throughout the dining section, and new landscaping and lighting design will seamlessly guide guests to the on-site 15-screen AMC multiplex.
Besides the retail and dining renovations and upgrades, there will be a major remodel to the adjacent Century Plaza Hotel, plus the construction of a residential component. Add it all up, and the work underway at Westfield Century City Mall shapes to be quite transformative, and will likely set a new standard for town center style shopping destinations.
